PROPECIA (Finasterine) is one the most powerful treatment methods sanctioned by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. Taken once a day in a pill form, Propecia slows down the conversion of testosterone to DHT, thereby preventing the diminishing of hair follicles. The pill must not be taken by females, because it may bring on birth defects. Generic Propecia, which is as potent as the brand name drug, is much cheaper and, consequently, can be bought by a larger number of men suffering from baldness. As a result of a two-year study 83% of males aged 18 - 41 with mild to moderate have maintained their hair. Most men reported improvement in appearance. Generic Propecia may bring on side effects. In clinical studies, adverse side effects from Generic Propecia were infrequent and did not affect most men. A small percentage of men experienced certain sexual adverse side effects, such as less desire for sex, difficulty in attaining an erection and a decrease in the amount of semen. These adverse side effects were temporary and disappeared in males after they stopped taking the medicine. These adverse side effects also went away in most men (58%) who went on taking Generic Propecia.
